Oakland International Airport Train Transfers
Trains are possible transportation options at Oakland International Airport. There are two BART stations in the airport and one Amtrak station.
The closest BART station is Terminal 1, and the other is Terminal 2. The Amtrak station is outside the security area, so passengers must take a shuttle bus to get there.
BART at Oakland International Airport
Rather than wasting time in the Bay Area's notoriously bad traffic, hop on BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit).
Trains on the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) system run between Oakland International Airport, downtown San Francisco, Oakland, and Berkeley, among other places.
Baggage Claims at Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 are within easy walking distance of BART. The average train leaves OAK every 6 minutes during normal operating hours.

It's only a short walk from the OAK terminals to the adjacent BART station. Trains depart every 8 minutes from OAK and arrive at the Coliseum BART station, which connects to all other BART stops.

Traveling to/from Downtown Oakland
Coliseum Station is where you should change trains to reach Richmond. The 12th Street/Oakland City Center station is conveniently located in the heart of the city, just a stone's throw from Oakland's Chinatown and Jack London Square.
Take a train headed for Warm Springs to the Coliseum station, and from there, ascend to Platform 3 to change trains and return to OAK.
Traveling to/from San Francisco's Central Business District
Getting to the heart of San Francisco from Coliseum Station takes about 21 minutes on a train headed in that direction.
From any of the four downtown San Francisco BART stations, hotels, and the Moscone Convention Center are a short walk or cab ride away. Use this BART map to locate your accommodation in San Francisco.
Get off at the Coliseum station if you're coming from Warm Springs/South Fremont or Dublin/Pleasanton, then head upstairs to catch a train back to OAK from Platform 3.
BART Tickets
To those under the age of 4, travel is free. A valid BART ticket or Clipper card is required for all other passengers. A BART ticket can be thought of as a prepaid debit card.
When arriving at OAK, passengers can wait to buy a BART ticket or Clipper card at the Coliseum BART station. Platform 3 is where you may purchase a BART ticket or Clipper card for the regional system.
Ticket machines take bills, coins, and plastic. The cost to ride BART depends on how far you go.
You can either swipe your Clipper card on the top of the fare gate to enter the BART system and have your ticket refunded or insert your ticket into the tariff gate and scan it. Don't forget to swipe your exit ticket or card.
You may rest assured that the appropriate fare will be deducted from your account.
If your BART ticket is inadequate to depart the system, a sign will direct you to the nearest Add fare vending machine.
Luggage
Baggage storage options include under-seat storage, lap storage, and floor storage. Doorways must be kept clear at all times.
Lifts are available at each BART station, and the fare gates are particularly wide to accommodate bulky bags.
Amtrak at Oakland International Airport
The BART Coliseum Station is conveniently located next to an Amtrak station. You can get between the two levels by taking the walkway. It's normal for most trains to operate once a day.
From Oakland, you can get to several places. There are approximately six daily departures to and from The Capitols, San Jose, and Sacramento.
